LaSalle Pounds Sicily Island 43-6

The LaSalle Tigers hosted the Sicily Island Tigers this past Thursday night and won the contest 43-6. LaSalle would open the scoring with Kendryk Morrow keeping the ball and finding the end zone from 15 yards out. This would start the rout that would ensue for the next three quarters. Hunter Bradford, Sean Derr and Noah Parham would all find the end zone by being on the receiving end of Morrow’s passes. Chase King and Wyatt King would find the end zone on scoring runs. The Tigers were in control of the game from the opening kickoff to the final horn. This senior led team would use a ground and pound game plan to run clock and chew up yardage. The Tiger defense would not give up a Sicily Island score until late in the fourth quarter. By that time, the starting defense had been on the sideline for some time and Sicily Island was able to take advantage of the less experienced players that were in the game to gain some varsity playing time. That Sicily Island score came on a 96-yard pass play. LaSalle will hit the road next week to travel for a game against Merryville. Merryville has seen its own challenges the last couple of weeks with some of the most devastating wildfires in Louisiana history. They are an area recovering from the damage and hopefully this Friday night football game will help the area regain some sense of normalcy. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it is our hope that the stands are full to cheer on the LaSalle Tigers as they have worked hard to make this school and community proud. If you cannot make the trip, make sure to tune in to Sandlot Sports Network on Facebook as Jason Peppers brings all the play-by-play action. Hope to see you at the games.
