28th Judicial District Court Conducts August Dockets

The month of August was a busy time in 28th Judicial District Court, in and for the Parish of LaSalle, with arraignments held, prison terms being meted out, others fined, numerous pleas taken, and other proceedings taking place.

The Honorable J. Christopher Peters, District Judge, presided at the sessions. Also at their regular duties were District Attorney J. Reed Walters and assistants, Deputy Sheriff Joe Phillips, Deputy Clerk of Court Reba McClure and Court Reporter/Administrator Amy Stapleton. August 7

Zachary Thomas Baker pled guilty to a charge of underage operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $250.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 25 days in the parish jail.

Isaiah Wade Baxter pled not guilty to felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and obstruction of justice and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing. On the misdemeanor charge, trial was set for December 6, 2023 and on the felony charges, a final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024. He was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Cody Allan Beard pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of take or sell commercial fish without a license and guilty to a charge of contempt of court failure to appear at arraignment. On the take or sell commercial fish without a license charge, trial was set for December 6, 2023 and the defendant waived his right to counsel and will represent himself. On the contempt of court charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $150.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 15 days in the parish jail.

Barkley Blaylock pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of possession of CDS I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Daniel S. Bohanon pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension and improper equipment (no license plate). Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Anna Marie Book pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Kaleb Brooks pled not guilty to a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

Cameron D. Brown pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer. The Court ordered him to pay a fine of $250.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 25 days in the parish jail.

Jason K. Brown pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of reckless operation and simple battery. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Lisa Marie W. Brown failed to appear on felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of CDS III buprenorphine and possession of CDS IV alprazolam. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond was set on the bench warrant at $700,000.00.

James Q. Clark pled not guilty to a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Dakota James Davis pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension, careless operation and operating vehicle in an unsafe condition. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Hunter L. Davis pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of contempt of court failure to appear at pre-trial hearing and guilty to two felony charges of simple burglary. On the contempt of court charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $150.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 15 days in the parish jail. He was given credit for any time served on this charge. On the felony charges, a final pre-trial hearing was set for August 25, 2023.

Joni Lee Delaughter pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated by CDS. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

David E. Foster pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace by intoxication and a felony charge of obscenity. Trial on the misdemeanor charge was set for December 6, 2023 and a final pre-trial hearing on the felony charge was set for January 19, 2024.

Richard Scott Gandy pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Joe T. Hamilton, Jr. pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. Trial on the misdemeanor charge was set for December 6, 2023 and a final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024 on the felony charge.

Destiny Imani Harbor failed to appear for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Delvin D. Hatcher, Sr. pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of simple battery, criminal damage to property less than $1,000.00 and driving under suspension. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Corey L. Haviland pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace by intoxication, resisting an officer and contempt of court failure to appear at arraignment. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

James Hogg pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and failure to display license plate. On the driving under suspension charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine $500.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 50 days in the parish jail. On the no proof of insurance charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $350.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 35 days in the parish jail. This sentence is to run consecutive to the first sentence. On the failure to display license plate charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $245.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 25 days in the parish jail.

Jim A. Howard, Jr. pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Ashley D. James pled not guilty to felony charges of three counts of simple burglary and three counts of conspiracy to commit simple burglary and misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and theft having a value less than $1,000.00. Trial on the misdemeanor charges was set for December 6, 2023 and a final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024 on the felony charges. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Charles Boone Ketchens pled not guilty to six felony counts of theft greater than $1,000.00 but less than $5,000.00. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Todd Leighton Lucas pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of speeding 67/55 and driving under suspension. On the charge of speeding, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $215.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 22 days in the parish jail. On the driving under suspension charge, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $300.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 30 days in the parish jail.

Coy G. McPherson, Jr. failed to appear for arraignment on misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace by intoxication and contempt of court. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond was set on the bench warrant at $100,000.00.

Ricky Glen Meeks failed to appear for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace by intoxication. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond was set on the bench warrant at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Leroy S. Metcalfe pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Mark Miller pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court ordered him to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 50 days in the parish jail.

Penny Lou Miller pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of open container and no seat belt. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Cecelia Alexandera Moore failed to appear for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Oneisha S. Nelson pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Nathan Lee Nobles pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Erick Onishea pled not guilty to felony charges of two counts of sexual battery and indecent behavior with a juvenile. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

Justin D. Peppers pled not guilty to a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

Joshua Paul Purvis failed to appear for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Willie C. Purvis, III pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. He waived his right to counsel and stated he will represent himself.

Rowdy Austin Randall pled not guilty to a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

Vincent Cole Stapleton pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Jeromy N. Thompson pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension, simple flight from an officer, reckless operation and failure to display license plate. Trial was set for December 6, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Kevin E. Trisler failed to appear for arraignment on a charge of driving under suspension. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Ricky W. Westbrook pled not guilty to a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

Mason Spencer Zurfluh pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of underage driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. On the charge of underage driving under the influence, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $250.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 25 days in the parish jail. On the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, the Court ordered him to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 50 days in the parish jail. This sentence is to run consecutive to the other sentence.

The following individuals failed to appear for arraignment on the listed charges and the Court ordered the Department of Public Safety in each of the respective states to be notified of their non-appearance: Phylis Y. Andrews, speeding 71/55.

Elisa Rene Bethley, speeding 74/55.

Christian Tyler Book, no proof of insurance and no driver’s license.

Shannon C. Butler, speeding 74/55.

Christopher H. Calhoun, no license plate, no proof of insurance and improper equipment.

Marcus Devell Davis, speeding 70/55.

Rufus Dixie Davis, speeding 81/55.

Tabrian T. Jefferson, speeding 75/55.

Alicia Joy, improper child restraint.

Mona Lipsey, speeding 68/55.

Bryan K. Mayo, speeding 68/55. Megan Minich, speeding 74/55 and improper child restraint.

Deondre Gene Pinkson, speeding 85/55.

Robert Glenn Roup, speeding 78/55, failure to secure registration and no proper driver’s license.

Donttrelle D. Sanford, speeding 80/55.

Benjamin W. Sharp, improper equipment, no proof of insurance and expired driver’s license.

Leonard J. Warkentin, failure to secure insurance.

Russell Williams, speeding 76/55.

Gordon Aubrey Young, speeding 75/55.

Tyra Chante Brown pled not guilty to speeding 68/55. Trial was set for December 6, 2023.

Devonte D. Wallace failed to appear for arraignment on misdemeanor charges of speeding 84/55 and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued in the amount of $1,000.00 and bond on the underlying charge was set at $500.00.

James Barker was present in court for a revocation hearing on a charge of home improvement fraud. After admitting to the allegations, the Court ordered his probation revoked and he was ordered to serve the previously sentence imposed by the Court. He was given credit for time served since his arrest on this charge.

Erica L. Cooper was present in court for a sanity hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and terrorizing and misdemeanor charges of battery of a police officer and resisting an officer. After reports were filed from both doctors, the Court ruled that based upon the review of the record, the defendant is incompetent to stand trial.

Steven Cox was present in court for a bond reduction hearing regarding three counts of simple burglary, three counts of criminal conspiracy to simple burglary and three counts of criminal damage to property. On a motion between the State and the defense, the bond was reduced to $50,000.00.

Steven Cox was then arraigned on felony charges of three counts of simple burglary, three counts of conspiracy to simple burglary and possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor charges of theft less than $1,000.00 and criminal trespassing. Trial on the misdemeanor charges was set for December 6, 2023 and a final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024 on the felony charges.

Kendrick O. Curry was present in court on a motion to quash on charges of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse aggravated assault and domestic abuse battery by strangulation. After testimonies, the Court ruled the motion to quash was denied.

Edgar Hernandez-Palacios was present in court for a waiver of extradition hearing. He was advised he was being held for the State of Mississippi. A written waiver of extradition proceedings was read, signed and filed.

Derek L. Hord was present in court for sentencing on a charge of attempted second-degree battery. The defense filed a motion to recuse and the Court referred to the Supreme Court for the appointment of Judge to hear the motion.

Eddie N. Walker was present in court for a preliminary examination and arraignment on a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On a motion by the State and the defense, the preliminary examination was passed and he pled not guilty to the charge. A final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024.

August 9

Wesley Michael Atwell failed to appear in court for trial on charges of flight from an officer, general speed law and no proof of insurance. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $5,000.00. Bond on the underlying charges was set at $2,000.00, $2,000.00 and $500.00, respectively.

Frederick D. Bowens withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated first offense. The Court sentenced the defendant to serve 10 days in the parish jail and pay a fine of $1,000.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 100 days in the parish jail. Further, as condition of sentence, the defendant was ordered to complete a driver improvement/substance abuse program. All fines and fees were to be paid by 3 p.m. of August 9, unless otherwise stated. It was noted the defendant pled guilty under the auspices of Article 894. He was given credit for time served on this charge.

Harmon Todd Clark, II failed to appear for trial on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the warrant was set at $10,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $1,000.00.

Helen Lee was present in court for trial on misdemeanor charges of driving under suspension and contempt of court failure to appear at trial. The defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge of driving under suspension. The Court ordered the defendant to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 50 days in the parish jail. On a motion by the State, the contempt of court charge was dismissed.

James Mayeux failed to appear in court for trial on a misdemeanor charge of speeding 70/55. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $1,000.00. Bond on the underlying charge was set at $500.00.

Ricky Glen Meeks failed to appear in court for trial on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. His non-appearance was noted for the record.

Douglas K. Norris failed to appear in court for trial on a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $150,000.00.

Josh L. Rhone pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court, in default to serve 50 days in the parish jail.

Damon Sean Rollins failed to appear in court for trial on charges of fail to abide by rules and regulations of wildlife and fisheries commission and contempt of court failure to appear at arraignment. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the warrant was set at $10,000.00.

Jeromy N. Thompson was present in court for trial on charges of domestic abuse battery and violation of protective order. On a motion by the State, trial was continued without date.

Kenneth Woods, Jr. failed to appear in court for trial on charges of driving while intoxicated by CDS and contempt of court failure to appear at arraignment. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $50,000.00.

August 17

Malcolm X. Foreman was present in court for a waiver of extradition hearing. He was advised he was being held for the State of Alabama.

A written waiver of extradition proceedings was read, signed and filed.

Arturo Guzman was present in court for a waiver of extradition hearing. He was advised he was being held for the State of Indiana. A written waiver of extradition proceedings was read, signed and filed.

Israel Munoz was present in court for a waiver of extradition hearing. He was advised he was being held for the State of Tennessee. A written waiver of extradition proceedings was read, signed and filed.

Carlos Antonio Rosales-Flores was present in court for a waiver of extradition hearing. He was advised he was being held for the State of Alabama. A written waiver of extradition proceedings was read, signed and filed.

Addendum to the official minutes of July 10, 2023 – After being brought to the attention of the Clerk of Court, it was noted that David Paul Smith and his proceedings in court on July 10, 2023, were inadvertently omitted from the minutes and the following addendum was made to the minutes of that date: David Paul Smith pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, careless operation and expired driver’s license. Trial was set for October 31, 2023. The defendant was referred to the Indigent Defender’s Board for evaluation for appointment of counsel.

Janae James, speeding 70/55, $210.00.

Carnell Johnson, unlawful operation of off-road vehicle, $210.00; no safety helmet, $50.00.

Lorrain Johnson, speeding 70/55, $210.00.

Sean McFall, no driver’s license in possession, $195.00.

Megan Minich, speeding 74/55, $210.00; improper child restraint, $52.00.

Nhanah Nguyen, no driver’s license in possession, $210.00.

Deondre Pinkson, speeding 85/55, $250.00.

Sarah Randall, speeding 74/55, $210.00.

Jose Samano, speeding 73/55, $210.00.

Chad Smart, speeding 89/55, $250.00.

Valerie L. Parker withdrew her former plea of not guilty to a felony charge of driving while intoxicated fifth offense and entered a blind plea of guilty to an amended felony charge of driving while intoxicated fourth offense as part of a plea bargain agreement with the State. Sentencing was set for October 10, 2023 with the pre-sentence investigation to be performed by September 22, 2023. A post-conviction bond was set in the amount of $300,000.00, with the condition that she is not to operate a vehicle.

August 25

Carl S. Ainsworth was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing

on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. On a motion by the State, a final pre-trial hearing was set for September 22, 2023 with trial set for September 25, 2023.

Jennifer L. Arnold was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and possession of CDS IV alprazolam. She withdrew her former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to an amended charge from felony possession of CDS II methamphetamine to misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court sentenced her to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court. The charge of possession of CDS IV alprazolam was dismissed by the State.

Stacy D. Bird was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a blind plea of guilty to the charge. The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation be performed by September 15, 2023 and sentencing was set for October 10, 2023.

Steven Paul Eubanks was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge. The Court ordered him to serve two years at hard labor in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.00, plus all costs of court.

Domonic Fitch was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced him to serve two years at hard labor in the custody of the Department of Corrections, which was suspended. Upon release from incarceration, he was placed on two years active supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.00, plus all costs of court. As a special condition of probation, he may pay his fines and costs in equal monthly installments over the first year of his probation.

Jeffery Jade Bodiford was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of illegal use of weapons. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced him to serve two years at hard labor in the custody of the Department of Corrections, which was suspended. He was placed on two years active supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.00, plus all costs of court, and restitution in the amount of $500.00. As special condition of probation, he may pay his fines, costs and restitution in equal installments over the first year of his probation.

Demarlo Enre Clark was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of illegal carry of weapon with possession of CDS. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to an amended charge of attempted illegal carry of a weapon with possession of CDS. The Court ordered him to serve five years at hard labor in the custody of the Department of Corrections, of which three and a half years were suspended. Upon release from incarceration, he was placed on two years active supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $2,500.00, plus all costs of court. He must pay his fines and costs by September 15, 2023 or his sentence is vacated.

Erica L. Cooper was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and terrorizing and misdemeanor charges of battery of a police officer and resisting an officer. On a motion by the State, the pre-trial hearing was continued without date.

Kaylie Shanel Cooper was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband. The defendant showed symptoms of being under the influence of something that was impairing her decision-making abilities. The Court ordered the defendant be drug screened.

Kendrick O. Curry was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on charges of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse aggravated assault and domestic abuse battery by strangulation. On a joint motion of the State and defendant, the pre-trial hearing was continued without date.

Lauren L. Falletti was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of attempted manslaughter and domestic abuse battery with force or violence. On a joint motion of the State and the defense, this matter was continued without date.

Robert D. Greene was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of possession of CDS II. He entered a plea of guilty to an amended misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $500.00, plus all costs of court.

Ken M. Hatten was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. On a motion by the State, a final pre-trial hearing was set for September 22, 2023 with trial set for September 25, 2023.

Stephen G. LaCroix failed to appear in court for arraignment on a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $85,000.00.

Nolan Trent McCartney appeared in court for arraignment on a felony charge of unauthorized entry of dwelling. The victim also appeared before the court and requested the charge be dropped. On a motion by the State, the case was dismissed.

Roderius Malik McCoy was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of aggravated battery. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to an amended misdemeanor charge of simple battery. The Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $500.00, plus costs of court.

Moses Stanley Montgomery, Jr. was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of forgery. On a motion by the State, a final pre-trial hearing was set for September 22, 2023 and trial was set for September 25, 2023.

Robert Rucks, Jr. was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of second-degree battery. On a motion by the State, a final pre-trial hearing was set for January 19, 2024 and trial was set for January 22, 2024.

Stevie Scales was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of possession of MDMA. On a motion by the State, this case was dismissed.

Christi M. Simmons was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on a felony charge of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. On a motion by the State, a final pre-trial hearing was set for September 22, 2023 and trial was set for September 25, 2023.

Calvin D. Thomas, Jr. was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine and obstruction of justice and misdemeanor charges of two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension. Trial was set for August 28, 2023.

Taylor R. Thompson was present in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS IV alprazolam, possession of CDS II oxycodone, possession of CDS II methamphetamine and introduction of contraband. Trial was set for August 28, 2023.

Jacob Tilly failed to appear in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of domestic abuse by strangulation and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment. The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $90,000.00.

Charmane Waters failed to appear in court for a final pre-trial hearing on felony charges of possession of CDS II cocaine and illegal carry weapon while in possession of CDS and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated first offense with child endangerment. Her non-appearance was noted for the record.

August 28

A six-member criminal petit jury was chosen from potential jurors, however, their services were not needed for the cases that appeared in court this day.

Calvin D. Thomas, Jr. was present for trial on a felony charge of obstruction of justice. He withdrew his former plea of not guilty and entered a plea of guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced him to serve two years at hard labor in the custody of the Department of Corrections, of which one year was suspended. Upon release from incarceration, he was placed on two years active supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.00, plus all costs of court. As special condition of probation, he may pay his fines and costs in equal monthly installments over the first year of his probation. The charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension were dismissed by the State.

The Court ordered a bench warrant be issued and bond on the bench warrant was set at $150,000.00.
