Kevin Bates Seeks Dist. 20 Rep. Seat

Kevin Bates of Winnsboro, officially announces his candidacy for the District 20 House of Representatives seat in the election set for October 14, 2023.

The district comprises all of Caldwell and portions of LaSalle, Franklin, Catahoula and Ouachita parishes.

In LaSalle Parish, the following Wards and Precincts are in District 20: 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 4-2, 5-1, 6-1, 6-2, 7-1, 9-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-4 and 10-1. The rest of LaSalle is in District 22, represented by Gabe Firment.

“I am Kevin Bates, and it is an honor to introduce myself as a candidate for State Representative.

As a Pastor and lifelong resident of District 20, I have been on the ground working hand and hand in the community to understand the needs of the people and what really impacts our community.

Pro-life advocacy, Second Amendment protection, healthcare, education, insurance reform, and economic development are not campaign topics but issues I have dealt with in real time with real people. These experiences have ingrained in me a deep sense of duty to advocate for the needs of our community at a higher level.

For years, we have been represented by the same familiar faces, but it’s time for a change. I am not someone who has been in the political arena, making promises and exchanging favors.

Instead, I come to you as a concerned citizen, a family man, and a community leader. It’s time for a representative who truly understands the challenges faced by ordinary citizens and who will fight tirelessly to address those challenges.

I pledge to you that I will be a representative who is accessible, accountable, and transparent. I will listen to your concerns and fight for the issues that matter most to you.

My family-oriented Christian values will guide every decision, ensuring that District 20 is represented with integrity and compassion.

My wife, Kayla, and I, along with our children Bliss and Boston, have built our life in this area and we are convicted and determined to ensure that District 20 is a place our children will want to raise their families.”
