Giants Dominate Bolton 52-6

Matchup of Undefeateds This Friday

The Bolton Bears came to town this past Thursday night in another District 2-3A matchup for the Jena Giants. The Bears have had a difficult season this year as they came into the game with a 0-6 record while the Giants came into the game looking to stay on track and maintain their unbeaten record.

The Giants have dominated the series between the two teams lately as the Giants have won the last six matchups between the two teams and this year’s game proved to continue that dominance.

The captains for the Giants were seniors Dylon Davis, Zerrick Jones, Zach Barker and Boots Green. The Giants won the toss and elected to receive. The Giants would begin their dominance from the start as on their first drive they would score in two plays as junior running back Cameron Koch would score his first touchdown of the season on a 19-yard run to make it 8-0.

The Giants’ defense was spectacular on the night and did not allow a first down to Bolton on their first four possessions.

The Giants would get a touchdown run from Zerrick Jones to make it 16-0 and on the next drive from Bolton, Demariyon Hammock would intercept a pass and return it 27 yards for the score. Boots Green would dive over the pile to get into the end zone for the two-point conversion to give the Giants a 24-0 lead.

The Giants would get two more touchdowns from Zerrick Jones on a 30 yard run and a 22 yard run. They would also get a safety as Jacob Pentecost would sack the Bolton quarterback in the end zone to give the Giants a 40-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. From that point on the clock would run the rest of the game.

The Gi- ants would get a 48-yard touchdown run from freshman Daniel Hatcher and would later get a 13-yard touchdown run from freshman Kairi Richardson. The Giants would go on to win 52-6 in the game to remain undefeated. One historical marker is the fact that the Giants scored on every possession in the game. Zerrick Jones would lead the Giants with 4 carries for 90 yards and 3 touchdowns. With the win the Giants improve to 7-0 on the season and setup a huge matchup this week as they will travel to Bunkie to take on the 7-0 Panthers. These two teams played an excellent game last season as Bunkie took an 18-14 lead into halftime. The Giants came back in the second half to win 4235.

Bunkie will have a lot of fans and has a very good team this year. Giants fans, you have always done an incredible job in traveling and supporting your team. The team is really going to need you to travel and make the trip down to Bunkie to cheer on the Giants.

This game Friday night will likely be for the District Championship and it also has huge playoff implications. Kickoff will be at 7:00 pm.
