Tales On The Trail this Saturday

A Family Literacy Event Sponsored by Delta Kappa Gamma

It’s time! The Tales on the Trail Literacy Festival will take place at Jena High School this Saturday, October 21st.

Follow the signs and banners leading guests to this free event that will take place inside the Guy Campbell Memorial Gymnasium starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m.

This grass roots community collaboration aimed at providing literacy activities for children ages 0-8 years of age will feature all types of fun and exciting events and activities.

Each learning activity will be implemented by a local group and will feature fun and engaging activities for children that will enhance literacy skills while also helping parents get ideas for at-home activities.

Parents and grandparents are encouraged to bring children to join in the fun and learning.

The community collaboration is made possible through contributions of time and funding including the LaSalle Parish chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Jena High School, Northwestern State University, the Louisiana Department of Health and the Louisiana Early Childhood Association.

Fun, games, storytelling, art and many hands-on activities will keep the youngsters having fun without even realizing they are learning literacy skills. There will also be “Make and Take” activities for children where they will be able to make items that they can take home with them.

Make plans to attend this special and unique family literacy event this Saturday. Plus, every child will be able to choose a free book to take home with them.
