Burn Ban Reinstated

Burn Ban Reinstated

LaSalle Parish is once again under a Do Not Burn order effective Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Parish fire chiefs unanimously agreed last week to reinstate the Parish Wide Burn Ban due to lack of rain and the forecasted low chance of rain.

After helping Caldwell Parish battle a massive forest fire Wednesday, the chiefs agreed that the chance of something similar occurring in LaSalle is too great to take a chance.

“Until we receive a minimum of an inch of rain with more in the forecast, the Burn Ban will stay in place,” Parish Fire Chiefs Association President Josh Corley said. “We will re-evaluate it after conditions improve.”

He noted that residents may still burn in an elevated container for cooking or warming.

The fire chiefs had removed the ban for just a few days prior to reinstating it Thurs- day.
