Obituaries
November 29, 2023
John Duck Jr.

John Webb Duck Jr., 83, of Jonesville, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born February 22, 1940 in Harrisonburg, LA.

John started his oilfield career in 1959 with a company named ‘Yazoo Operators’ out of Natchez, Mississippi. He took to the oilfield industry and ran with it. He worked all over the world throughout the years. He retired, but not for long, when he became the owner and operator of his own oilfield trucking company called, Ducks Trucking. He worked for himself, driving trucks, for over 25 years. After retiring from that, he went on to be a gate guard, also known as a site watch, in South Texas. He was never alone while working, and drug Aline every step of the way. She would occasionally let him take naps on the job while she kept watch. After he finally retired for good, they moved back home to their own ‘piece of heaven’ in Jonesville, Louisiana. He enjoyed watching westerns like Gunsmoke and anything to do with John Wayne. He was an LSU football fan and loved fishing any chance he got. He enjoyed spending time with his family and making memories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena.

Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery, Manifest, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Duck; son, James “Bo” Duck; sister, Sharon Sanson; and brother, Lloyd “T-Bo” Duck.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Aline Deville Duck; daughter, Terri Coleman (GL); daughter-in-law, Donna Duck; grandchildren, Mhairi Metzel (Brandon), Tyree Duck (Makala), Brett Duck (Taylor) and Sarah Duck Romero (Chance); great grandchildren, Hunter, Amber (Matthew), Connor, Brennan, Briggs, Kensley, Idalie and Jaxon; sister, Sue Huff; sister-in-law, Glenda Broussard; brotherin- law, Buster Sanson; and many other family and friends he has made along the way.
