Ronald Andrews

Ronald Lafayette Andrews, 96, of Jena, left this earth for glory on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

He was born October 29, 1927 in the Aimoch Community, LA to the union of his parents, Rev. Stantford “Buddy” Lafayette Andrews and Rose Lee Roark Andrews.

Mr. Ronald was a barber in Jena for some 50 years. He went to work for his uncle Earnest Andrews at his shop in downtown Jena after graduating from barber school in the mid-1940s and worked for him until the mid-1970’s when he bought the shop from his uncle. He operated the barber shop until 1990 when he retired. He took some time out of the barbershop to serve his country in the United States Army in the late 50’s and early 60’s. He was a faithful husband and servant to his Lord and Savior.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2023, at East Jena Baptist Church, with the Revs. Johnnie Phillips and Mike Wilkinson officiating.

Interment followed in the Aimoch Cemetery, in the Aimoch Community, under the direction of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Elona Andrews Jones; and four sisters, Christine Andrews Brewer, Mallie Andrews Lewis, Ernie Andrews Poole and Carolyn Andrews.

Those left to love and miss him include his wife of 73 years Martha JoAnn Powe Andrews of Jena; two sons, Jerry Bass (Janice) and Mark Andrews (Lynn), both of Jena;a daughter, Lori Andrews D’Arsenbourg, of Ethel; a brother, Max Andrews (Rita), of the Aimoch Community; four grandchildren, Ashley Crooks (Stephen), Leslie Valentine (Bo), Carrie Anderson (Chris) and Rodney Andrews (Mercedes); eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers were Rodney Andrews, Ryland Crooks, Jonas Valentine, Bo Valentine, Chris Anderson and Beau McClure.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Don Moseley, Stephen Crooks, Ethan McClure, Asher Mc-Clure and Max Andrews.
