L&A Christmas Cantata

Pastor Chauncey M. Hardy adn the L&A Church Family invites everyone to our Christmas Cantata. The musical will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 5 p.m. Please come and help us celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

V.F.W. Meeting/Supper

If you are a spouse of or have had a family member that served in a foreign war the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5002 members invite you to join them at their monthly meeting and supper.

The meetings are held every second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post in Jena. Standing members are encouraged to attend as well. If interested in joining, call Dina Liles at 623-3637 or Kim Randall at 992-4946.

Honor Guard Needs Members

The LaSalle Parish Honor Guard is seeking new members. The Honor Guard provides military honor funerals and burials for all veterans, along with presenting programs in schools, churches and other venues as well as programs during Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The only requirements to join the Honor Guard is that one must be a veteran and received an honorable discharge. For more information, contact Daniel Hulsey at (318) 312-1049.

Elderly Care Relief

If you are caring for an elderly resident and need someone to relieve you of the care a few hours a week, call the LaSalle Council on Aging at 992-4708 between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. LaSalle Council on Aging is an equal opportunity provider.

Foster Homes Needed

Methodist Foster Care serves children who have been through extensive trauma and likely have high behavioral/emotional needs. There is a great need for therapeutic foster homes in the LaSalle Parish area.

Concordia Board Meeting

Concordia’s next regular board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 14 at 5 p.m.

Op Grad’s Christmas in the Park

An animated light show will be Friday, Dec. 15 – Sunday, Dec. 17, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Jena Town Park. The event is sponsored by JHS Op Grad. There will be food and photo ops. Admission is $5.

LaSalle Celebrate Recovery

LaSalle Celebrate Recovery is a free 52-week Christ-centered 12-step program for any life controlling issue. The meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the old Jena Elementary School cafeteria. Jena Giant Booster Club

The Jena Giants Booster Club will hold their meetings at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the JHS athletic field house, located at 9089 Mack Fowler Drive in Jena.

Little Free Food Pantry in Jena

The Little Free Food Pantry in Jena is located beside The Jena Times on Third Street in front of the town pavilion. The pantry is open to anyone in need and also for citizens to add items to keep the pantry stocked.

Victim Advocate Program

Victims of crime can receive help with safety planning, guidance through the criminal justice system and access to certain resources to gain strength after victimization.

Services include emotional support, lethality assessment, prevention of abuse, and referrals to services. Assistance in filing Civil Temporary Restraining Orders or Crime Victim’s Reparations notification of court dates and accompanying the victim to interviews and court proceedings are also available.

4-H Seed of the Month Club

LaSalle Parish 4-H is starting a Seed of the Month Club and accepting the first 50 members who would like to participate.

Each month, members will receive a packet of seeds or planting material with instructions on planting, watering, growing and harvesting. Project activity guides will also accompany the seeds that include recipes, and a wide variety of gardening education.
