Shelby Masters, 80, of Jonesville, passed from this life on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at his home in Jonesville, LA.
He was born January 19, 1943.
Shelby spent his life working as a deputy for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and a Free Mason. He also was a song leader and deacon at Prosperity Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scotty McDowell officiating.
Interment followed in the Woodland Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavious and Myrtis Masters and sister, Sharon Slay.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marie; son, Lanelle Masters (Dawn); daughter, Shelly Sanson (Tommy); grandchildren, Morgan Thomley, Andrew Masters, Sabrina Clark, Sean Masters and Trey Thomley.
Pallbearers were Trey Thomley, Andrew Masters, Eddie Sanson, Jacob Campbell and Dan Evans.
Honorary pallbearer was Jason Evans.
