E.M. Smith, 82, of Pineville, passed from this life on Friday, December 1, 2023, at his residence.

He was born December 9, 1940.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena, LA, with the Rev. Terry Doughty officiating.

Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Ruby, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ealie and Bonnie Bradford Smith; infant son, E.M. Smith Jr.; and brother, Bradford “Penny” Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Evelyn Harris Smith; son, Robert Smith of New Orleans, LA; daughters, Gay Smith of Jena, LA and Emily Smith Connell (Joe) of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Logan Guy Stringer, David Luke Stringer and Katherine Connell; and great grandchildren, Corbin, Colten, Cason and River Stringer; sister, Bonnie Smith Mason of Pineville, LA; and brother, Monroe Smith of Texas.

Pallbearers were Luke Stringer, Carl Smith, Jason Evans, Kevin Hill, Brent Floyd and Chad Stevenson.

Honorary pallbearers were Red Hailey, Bill Edmonds, Jerrel Floyd, Logan Stringer, Donald Hill, Mike Smith and Artie Cole.
