Jena Giants Blow Out Calvin

The Jena Giants played their final non-district game this past Friday night as Calvin came to town. The Giants came into the game on a fourgame losing streak after losing a couple of close games to Tioga and Rosepine. The Giants were looking to get a big win to carry some momentum into district play that starts this week.

The Giants would come out shooting the ball well and playing good defense as they took a 32-17 lead into halftime. Zy Hunter led the Giants with 9 first half points while Demariyon Hammock had 8 first half points and Xavier Brown had 7 first half points.

In the second half, the Giants would continue to shoot the ball well as they would go on to win 64-40. The Giants made 11 threepoint shots in the game and had 5 different players make a three-point shot in the game.

Demariyon Hammock would lead the Giants with six threepoint shots as he finished with 20 points in the game. Xavier Brown had a great allaround game as he finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the game. Also in the game, Zy Hunter had 11 points, Zac Brown had 6 points, Blaine Shivers had 5 points, Daniel Hatcher had 3 points, Gus Morphis had 3 points and Zadrien Cooper had 2 points.

With the win, the Giants are now 6-5 going into district play this week as Bunkie came to town on Tuesday and Bolton comes to Jena on Friday night.

Everyone, come out to the game to cheer on the Giants and give them a good home court advantage.
