Brent Maxwell

Richard “Brent” Maxwell, 38, of Magnolia, TX, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, following a brief illness.

He was born June 3, 1985 to the union of his parents, the late Scott Elton Maxwell and Joy Maxwell.

Brent was known for his work with the youth of Magnolia as a volunteer for over 10 years at the Magnolia Youth Football Association and Magnolia West Football organization. He touched the lives of hundreds of young people in a very positive way during that time.

His passion for coaching football was felt by all who had the privilege to work with him. For a decade, he dedicated his time to fostering the athletic skills of young ones, a role he took on with zeal and dedication.

His commitment to sports and young athletes will long be remembered in the Magnolia School System, by the youth and their parents.

He was a devoted supporter of his children’s interests. He loved watching his boys play sports and cheering on his daughter during her dance performances, always present, always filled with pride.

Brent was a remarkable individual, marked by his funny, smart and caring personality. His light-hearted spirit and keen intelligence made him a joy to be around, while his caring nature showed his love for his family and those around him.

The legacy Brent leaves behind is imprinted in the hearts of his family and community. He will forever be remembered for being a tremendous father and a valuable member of our community. His dedication to nurturing youth sports and his unwavering support for his children’s pursuits will continue to inspire those he has left behind. His memory will live on in the joyful echoes of football games and dance recitals, and in the love and unity of his family.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, December 12, 2023, at the Magnolia High Athletic Complex, Magnolia, TX. The ceremony was held on the practice field, with over 300 people in attendance. The main speaker was Robert Copeland, a lifelong friend of Brent’s. It was announced at the service that the Magnolia High School Athletic Complex will carry on the name of Brent Maxwell.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandfathers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Melissa Maxwell; their children, Bryson Broadway, Breeana Maxwell and Brady Maxwell; his mother, Joy Maxwell and stepfather Mike Martin; his brother, Tyler Maxwell of Jena; his grandmothers, Joyce McMath and Audrey Maxwell of Jena; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
