“Goldilocks” Sought in Midway Break-in

The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for a “Goldilocks” suspect who recently broke into a home in the Midway community and slept in the residence’s bed.

LPSO Detective Todd Roark said a homeowner on Steen Loop in Midway reported that someone had broken into their home and slept overnight in the homeowner’s bed during the night of January 2.

The suspect was gone when the homeowner arrived at their house but quickly discovered evidence of the “Goldilocks” situation.

“Evidence collected at the scene allowed us to identify the suspect and it was determined the suspect was arrested later in the Green Terrace apartment complex, prior to being identified in the Midway break-in,” Roark said. “The individual was arrested on warrants from Avoyelles Parish and was sent to Avoyelles on the warrants.”

By the time the Sheriff’s Office identified the individual as the suspect, the person had been released from the Avoyelles jail.

“At this point, we are not releasing the name of the individual publicly for a couple of reasons,” Roark said. “We do think the person is still in Avoyelles Parish at this time and warrants from LaSalle are pending.”

The detective also said that another attempted break-in occurred in the Midway community during the same time span.

“A resident who lives on McDonald Lane reported that someone tried to break into their home, but because the homeowner was home at the time, they fled the scene,” he said. “We don’t know if this was the same person or someone different, but there is a possibility it was the same person.”

If anyone has any information on either of these two crimes, contact the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 992-2151.
