Giants Lose to Buckeye Panthers

The Jena Giants also played only one game this past week as they traveled to Buckeye to take on the Panthers. The Giants came into the game with some momentum after defeating Bolton the week before. The win over Bolton was the Giants first district win in three years.

Buckeye came in with a 21-0 record, having the best season in school history. Both teams would struggle to score early in the first half, but Buckeye would take a 17-9 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the offense would get going as the Giants would get three-point shots from Demariyon Hammock, Zac Brown and Xavier Brown. It would seem though that every time the Giants would get a big shot that Buckeye would answer as they would make five three-point shots in the 3rd quarter. Buckeye would take a 4024 lead into the final quarter.

The Giants would fight hard until the end but Buckeye would remain unbeaten with a 48-38 win.

In the game for the Giants, Demariyon Hammock had 16 points, Zadrien Cooper had 8 points, Zac Brown had 7 points, Blaine Shivers had 4 points and Xavier Brown had 3 points.

The Giants are now 7-7 overall and 1-2 in district play.

This week, the Giants were set to play Marksville at home on Monday and on Friday they will travel to Bunkie.
