Lady Tigers Suffer First Loss

After beating a weak Dodson team last Thursday night 69-1, the LaSalle Lady Tigers suffered their first loss of the season the following night as Northwood-Lena came to Olla and left with a 46-44 win.

LaSalle would drop in the power points to #4 in Division IV Non-Select due to the loss. The Lady Gators have competed in the last three state championship games, winning the last two back-to-back. The Lady Tigers have never backed down from a challenge and this was no exception.

Northwood-Lena has won the last several meetings between these two teams, but LaSalle has closed the scoring gap every game. As the score indicates, the Lady Gators were lucky to escape this game with a win.

Kenzie Nino led all Lady Tiger scorers with 19 points. Mattie Parham put in 17 points and 14 rebounds and Kele Smith added 13 rebounds and 5 points. Leana Womack added 3 points.

Foul trouble for the Lady Tigers would be what Northwood-Lena would use to come away with a win. This would be LaSalle’s first loss of the season. They drop to 20-1 overall and 2-1 is District 3-1A play.

The Lady Tigers will continue District 3-1A play on Thursday night at home versus St. Mary’s. Then the following night, the Lady Tigers will travel to Logansport to make up the game that was postponed due to weather.

The Lady Tigers still have the chance for a share of the 3-1A District Championship. If LaSalle can win out that will give them a share of the District Championship.

Let’s continue to fill the stands to cheer on these girls that are working hard to make this community and school proud. If you can’t make it to the gym for the games, then be sure to watch them live on Sandlot Sports Network as Tiffany Parham brings all the live action of the Lady Tiger Basketball team. Hope to see you at the games.
