A flat warning was issued this week to speeders and reckless drivers in LaSalle Parish to either cut it out “or suffer the consequences.” Sheriff D. Floyd stated that his department was ready to crack down on persons who think so little of their safety and the safety of others that they disregard the speed laws and all rules of safe and sane driving. “There has been a continual increase in the number of accidents on the highways. The trend is getting worse instead of better. And in the big majority of accidents, speeding or reckless driving is the contributing cause of the wreck,” Sheriff Floyd stated. “Unless these motorists exercise some self-restraint and regulate themselves and conform with the laws, the sheriff’s department of LaSalle Parish is ready to take drastic action.” Sheriff Floyd said he hoped that “a word to the wise will be sufficient.”
