Giants Start District Play This Week

The Jena Giants start district play this week as they will have a big two-game series against the defending district champions, the Buckeye Panthers.

The Giants come into the week with a 9-5 record after defeating LaSalle 10-0 and Vidalia 18-0 in the Jena Round Robin Tournament this past Saturday.

In the LaSalle game, the Giants got a great pitching performance from Calex Campbell and Zerrick Jones picked up three hits to lead the Giants.

In the Vidalia game, Jacob Belcher had a three-run homerun and drove in five runs. Paxton Willis and Jacob Belcher both pitched well to get the shutout victory.

On Tuesday, March 19, the Giants were at home against the Buckeye Panthers and on Thursday, March 21, the Giants will be at Buckeye. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:00. Buckeye is the favorite to win the district after winning it a season ago. This will be a big test for the Giants to start district play.

The two Buckeye games can be heard on 102.7 KJNA starting at 6:00 p.m. If you are not in the listening area then you can tune in on the MIXLR app by searching for KJNAFM or go online at www.kjnafmjena.mixlr.com.

The Giants will play another district game at Bolton on Saturday starting at 4:00 p.m.
