The LaSalle Lady Tiger softball team crushed Montgomery 10-0 to improve to 1-1 in District 3-1A play last week. Rheese Martin drove in four runs on three hits to lead LaSalle past Montgomery on Tuesday, March 12. Martin doubled in the first inning, scoring three, doubled in the second scoring one and singled in the third scoring one.

LaSalle won thanks in part to seven runs in the first inning. Rheese Martin doubled, scoring three runs, Klaire Fenoli singled, scoring one run, Kaylin Peppers singled, scoring one run, Allie Murphrey drew a walk, scoring one run and Kenzie Nino grounded out, scoring one run. The Lady Tigers extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI doubles by Rheese Martin and Lana Childress. Martin earned the win for LaSalle in the circle. The right hander allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Brighley Crayon stepped in the circle first for Montgomery. The right hander surrendered eight hits and nine runs (eight earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking three. LaSalle accumulated 11 hits in the game. Lana Childress collected two hits in three at-bats. The Lady Tigers will continue District 3-1A play this coming week with a trip to Logansport. Logansport holds the #1 spot in Division IV Non-Select PowerPoints. Montgomery held the #2 spot before the blowout loss to LaSalle. The LaSalle Lady Tigers currently hold the #5 spot. As the season winds down, District 3-1A is well represented at the top of the rankings. Hope to see you at the games.
