Tigers Drop District Game Last Week

The LaSalle Tigers fell to St. Mary’s 7-1 this past week to open District 3-1A play. St. Mary’s built their lead a few runs at a time on Thursday, March 14.

St. Mary’s got on the board in the first inning after a LaSalle defensive error, and Payne Williams singled, scoring one run. Trey Scarborough earned the win for St. Mary’s. The righty surrendered three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking four.

Brady Tatum pitched three innings in relief for LaSalle. The lefty allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out two and walking none. Kale Murphrey took the loss for LaSalle. Murphrey threw two innings, giving up three runs (zero earned) on one hit, striking out two and walking two. Murphrey went two for three at the plate as the pitcher led the team with one RBI. LaSalle defense was able to turn one double play in this contest.

The Tigers will continue District 3-1A play (0-2) this coming week as Montgomery will come to town. Montgomery sits at the # 13 spot in the rankings for Division IV Non-Select baseball. LaSalle holds the #20 spot in the Division IV rankings. LaSalle is 4-7 overall and (0-2) in district play. The Tigers will continue to work hard to compete in every matchup.
