It was a busy Easter weekend for parish residents as many family, church and community celebrations took place with one of the main attractions coming in the form of egg hunts.
The Town of Jena’s Easter in the Park was held Friday, March 29, with hundreds of area children participating in egg hunts where thousands of eggs, including many prize eggs, were hid and found by the children.
Held annually at the town park, the egg hunts were divided by age groups starting at 11 a.m. Along with the hunts, gospel music was sung at the amphitheater along with many churches and other organizations providing games and food for residents.
BSA Troop 14 also had a rock-climbing wall and Lulu’s Jumpers provided inflatable jumpers for the children to enjoy throughout the day.
On Saturday, March 30, northwest LaSalle children were treated to a big Easter celebration in Tullos, led by several churches at First Baptist Church with egg hunts held in the Tullos Town Park.
Games and events were held, including cake walks and a mechanical bull, but the excitement of the day was also egg hunts divided by age groups in the park. Prizes and other winnings, along with the pure joy of finding eggs, brought happiness to many children and their parents.
The Easter weekend culminated on Sunday, as several parish churches held sunrise services and large crowds gathered at all churches of various denominations for the special Easter Sunday worship services.
The messages centered around the protestant declaration that Jesus Christ rose from the dead after being crucified on a cross over 2,000 years ago. It is that historical event that is still celebrated today.
