Big Win in Regular Season Finale

The LaSalle Lady Tigers’ softball team finished the regular season with a 5-0 win at Caldwell Parish High School last week, during the season’s final regular season game.

LaSalle got on the board in the first inning after Rheese Martin doubled, Hayleigh Boyd walked and Mattie Parham singled, each scoring one run.

Rheese Martin earned the win for La-Salle. The Northwestern State University Lady Demons commit allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Emily Rucker led things off in the circle for Caldwell. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none.

Mattie Parham, the number seven hitter for LaSalle, led the way with two RBI’s. The righthanded hitter went 1-4 on the day. Rheese Martin led La-Salle with two hits in four at-bats.

Parker Nugent and Daisy Temple each collected one hit for Caldwell.

Earlier in the week LaSalle picked up a run-rule win over Vidalia 12-2. This game was dedicated as Senior Day. The softball seniors were honored before the game. The three seniors are Hayleigh Boyd, Kaylin Peppers and Kenzie Nino.

The Lady Tigers are still sitting at the #4 ranking in Division IV Non-Select. This would put the ladies having a first-round bye for the playoffs which begin this weekend. The brackets are to be released today, Wednesday, April 10, at noon. On this day the Lady Tigers will begin their trek back to the Fastpitch 56 in Sulphur, Louisiana.

The semi-final games at the LHSAA State Softball Tournament will be held April 26 with the state championship games set for April 27, all played at Frasch Park in Sulphur.

LaSalle will have to win two games, the regional and quarterfinal round matchups, to advance to the semi-finals in Sulphur. For certain, the regional game will be held in Olla and most likely, so will the quarterfinal matchup. This will not be known until after the brackets are released. Last year, the Lady Tigers lost in the semifinal round in Sulphur to Vinton 4-3.

Everyone is encouraged to be at the newly remodeled Lady Tigers softball complex on the campus of LaSalle High School in Olla to cheer the girls on to victory.

Hope to see you at the games.
