Giants on an Eight-Game Win Streak

The Giants came into this past week on a fourgame win streak. The Giants had four games on the schedule this past week and were looking to keep the streak going.

On Monday, April 1, the Giants would pick up a 12-4 win at Delhi Charter.

On Tuesday, April 2, the Marksville Tigers would come to town in another district contest. The Giants would jump out on top early as they scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Giants would end up scoring a run in the second inning and two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to win 14-4 in six innings.

Jacob Belcher started the game pitching two scoreless innings giving up only one hit and striking out two before leaving the game with an injury. Collin Jensen and Calex Campbell pitched the final four innings giving up four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts combined.

Jacob Pentecost would lead the Giants with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI. Paxton Willis would also have two hits, two runs and three RBIs.

On Thursday, April 4, the Giants would travel to Marksville for game two of their district series with Marksville. The Giants would get a great pitching performance from Calex Campbell as he pitched a complete game giving up only two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts. The Giants had 13 hits in the game including four from Cayden Mursch who went four for five with a double in the game.

The Giants would go on to win 8-2 to improve to 6-2 in district play.

On Friday, April 5, the Giants played at Family Community Christian to end the week. The Giants would pick up 16 hits in the game with Jacob Pentecost, Calex Campbell and Zerrick Jones all finishing with three hits each. Pentecost drove in four runs to lead the Giants to an 18-8 victory.

With the win the Giants are now 18-7 on the season and are on an eight-game winning streak.

This week will be a big week for the Giants as they will play their district series with Caldwell. On Tuesday, April 9, the Giants will have traveled to Caldwell. On Thursday, April 11, the Giants will finish up district play at home hosting Caldwell. It will be Military Appreciation Night and Future Jena Giants Night. All military, active and veteran, along with all youth wearing a softball or baseball uniform jersey will be admitted free into the game. The game will start at 6:00 p.m. at Eddie Justiss Memorial Field but everyone is encouraged to arrive early to view the pregame festivities, then cheer the Giants on to victory.
