The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

The Jena High School Drama Club saw quite the turnout last weekend for their presentation of “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940,” with over 250 people in attendance over the course of the weekend.

The twelve-member cast performed at the Jena High School auditorium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 19-21, after undergoing eight weeks of practice and rehearsals, and their hard work paid off as they kept the audience on the edge of their seats and rolling with laughter.

The team was led by JHS Drama Club Director Tracy Joy, along with Technical Director Blake Joy, Acting Coach Luke Goudelock and set builders Chad Girlinghouse, Blake Joy and John Joy.

Featured in the show was sophomore Lily LaCroix, senior Sawyer Davidson, junior Andrew Stephens, senior Jackson Skinner, senior Taylor Walker, senior Josie Masters, junior Coben Willis, sophomore Iris Smith, junior Ethan Reaves, senior Sarah Alexander, junior Kolton Bradford and junior Landon Cockerham.

Working behind the scenes was Raylee Guillory, Ad’Lynn Brinson, Emma Howard, Max Lambright, Arin Ashley and Denver Green. The box office, concession stand workers and ushers were Natalie Parrott, Ava McGuffee, Nicolette Fletcher, Haiden Ewing, Hannah Stapleton, Kalyn Prewitt, Kinley Prewitt, Alex Hodges, Shelby Austin, Naveah Webb and Joshua Jones.

This show would not have been possible without donor support from the following businesses and people: Justiss Oil Company, Cliff Williams Memorial Fund, Ace Family Hardware, Jena Band of Choctaws, Hardtner Medical Center, Universal Plant Services, Southern Heritage Bank, Homeland Bank, OfficeLinx, Gamer’s Pair-a-Dice, Womack and Sons, Billy Masters, Woodmen of the World Trout Ch. 1145, Long’s Body Shop, XTO Energy, Speedy Mac’s, LaSalle General Hospital, McCartney Oil, LaSalle Florist, Matthew and Brandy Reaves, John and Marty Joy, Renee’ Loe, in honor or Mike Adams, Barry Scott Insurance, Dorroh and Kendrick, Signs and More, and Nolley Memorial Methodist Church.
