Woodmen Life Meeting

Woodmen Life Chapter 1145 will hold their meet-ing on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. There will be homemade ice cream, sandwiches, chips and dips. All members are encouraged to come and bring a non-WOW member.\n

Healing Hearts Grief Support Group

Healing Hearts Grief Support Group will meet each week to provide support for those who have lost loved ones.\n Meetings will take place the first and third Tues-days of the month at the Jena Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at the Olla Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for attendance. V.F.W. Meeting/Supper

If you are a spouse of or have had a family mem-ber that served in a foreign war the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5002 members invite you to join them at their monthly meeting and supper. The meetings are held every sec-ond Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post in Jena. Standing members are encouraged to attend as well. LaSalle Celebrate Recovery

LaSalle Celebrate Recovery is a free 52-week Christ-centered 12-step program for any life controlling issue. The meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the old Jena Elementary School cafeteria. Visual Aid for Seniors

Seniors sixty (60) years of age and over may qualify for assistance in purchasing eye glasses locally. Contact LaSalle Council on Aging for information at (318) 992–4708. LaSalle Council on Aging is an Equal Opportunity Provider.\n

Little Free Food Pantry in Jena

The Little Free Food Pantry in Jena is located beside The Jena Times on Third Street in front of the town pa-vilion. The pantry is open to anyone in need and also for citizens to add items to keep the pantry stocked.\n

Aimoch Revival and Homecoming

The Aimoch Baptist Church Homecoming Revival will be Wednesday, May 15 through Saturday May 18 beginning at 6 p.m. each night. Rev. Dick DeBusk will bring the message and Bro. Charles McGuire and Melis-sa Strange will provide the music.\n The Homecoming service will be Sunday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dick DeBusk bringing the message. A meal will follow the service.\n Aimoch Baptist Church is located at 235 Hwy 503, Olla, LA 71465. Everyone is invited to attend!\n

Victim Advocate Program

Victims of crime can receive help with safety plan-ning, guidance through the criminal justice system and access to certain resources to gain strength after victim-ization.  Services include emotional support, lethality as-sessment,   prevention of abuse, and referrals to services. Assistance in filing Civil Temporary Restraining Orders or Crime Victim’s Reparations notification of court dates and accompanying the victim to interviews and court proceedings are also available. Honor Guard Needs Members

The LaSalle Parish Honor Guard is seeking new members. The Honor Guard provides military honor fu-nerals and burials for all veterans, along with present-ing programs in schools, churches and other venues as well as programs during Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The only requirements to join the Honor Guard is that one must be a veteran and received an honorable discharge. For more information, contact Daniel Hulsey at (318) 312-1049.\n

Monthly Ladies Book Club

The Literary Ladies of LaSalle book club is hosted at the LaSalle Parish Library – Jena Branch on the fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m.\n FOR THE MONTH OF MAY – The meeting has been changed to Monday, May 20 due to the Library’s closing on May 27 for Memorial Day.\n Members take turns choosing a book for the group to read. Members must be at least 18 years or older.\n

Elderly Care Relief

If you are caring for an elderly resident and need someone to relieve you of the care a few hours a week, call the LaSalle Council on Aging at 992-4708 between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. LaSalle Council on Aging is an equal opportunity provider.\n

Drive-In Movie Showing

Wild Horse Ministries will be showing the mov-ie “Courageous – Legacy Edition” on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 7 PM at the Wild Horse Ministries’ Multipur-pose Building.\n

Pine Grove Cemetery Working Day

The cemetery working at Pine Grove Cemetery lo-cated on Blade Loop Road in Jena will be on Saturday, May 18, 2024 beginning at 9 a.m.\n Bro. Jason Mercer will be bringing the message at 11 a.m. followed by a fellowship luncheon. Please bring your work tools and lunch and come join us.\n Donations can be mailed to the cemetery, in care of Cecil Clark, PO Box 34, Rhinehart, LA 71363.\n

Jena Giant Booster Club

The Jena Giants Booster Club will hold their meet-ings at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesd­­­ay of each month at the JHS athletic field house, located at 9089 Mack Fowl-er Drive in Jena.\n

Wild Horse Ministries

While observing these lessons, you can watch during the first steps of training a horse that has never been saddled while he relates the horse training with God based on trust, faith, obedience and love.\n
