Penny Denise Boyd, 57, of Olla, passed from this life on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria following an extended illness.

Interment followed in the Nelson Cemetery, west of Olla, under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Olla, LA.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Blackwell and Fruit Taylor.

Penny was born on January 31, 1967 in Columbia, LA to her beloved parents, the late J. D. Boyd and Lavada Taylor Boyd.

Penny loved birds and she loved the beautiful things which graced her life daily. Many of those things were just the simple, everyday things of life, as well as her patients she sat with and cared for. She truly was a caregiver at heart. She took great pride in her work and she was a very humble individual. She lived to serve others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Danny Boyd; her two sisters, Cindy Boyd and Cathy Fincher; and her beloved husband, Alan Masters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Justin McDaniel of Kentucky; her sister, Patty Emfinger (Kevin) of Olla; her aunt, Mrs. Ruby Taylor and her very special aunt, Vergie Taylor; a host of nieces and nephews, Kurt Boyd, Kyle Boyd, Lance Coleman, Jennifer Fincher and Shane Lewis; her great nieces and nephews, Ryland Coleman, Harper Coleman, Layla Coleman, Lawson Coleman and Austin Lewis.
