What is Lab Grown Meat?
Columns/Opinions
June 5, 2024
What is Lab Grown Meat?

What is lab grown meat? Okay. Do not tell me, I do not want to know. I have got a feeling it is not what I am used to eating. The Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, has just outlawed lab grown meat in Florida. Maybe Governor Landry should consider doing the same. I sure would like to know for sure before I sink my teeth (what’s left of them) into a steak. In this part of the country, cows are not only an economic stimulus, they are also very tasty. If you are for lab grown meat, just try to think of it like this: No part of the cow is wasted, nothing. People like you and me will eat the steaks, babies drink their milk and the blood and bones are used for organic fertilizers. Need more? Leather is used for wallets, purses, etc., calf livers and mountain oysters are considered delicacies. Beef, raising it and eating it, has been well engrained in our culture and eating habits. Cattle here even starred in many of our famous movies. Remember the show Rawhide, 1883 and Yellowstone? Just to name a few. Raising cattle is something you can do full time or something to supplement your full-time job. Be assured that consumers, restaurants and food processors will want more beef. Sorry Bill Gates.
