Calling attention to the use to which parking meter funds have been designated by the new Jena town council, plaques bearing the above inscription will be installed shortly on parking meters of the town. The plaques were donated to the Jena Kiwanis Club by the Louisiana State Penitentiary where they were made at the request of Sheriff D. Floyd, Publisher R. W. Wagner and Dr. Guy Campbell, chairman of the Kiwanis committee in charge of the project. Save-Way Super Market is having their 4th Anniversary Sale. Community Coffee was 89 cents, hamburger meat was 28 cents per lb., 25 lbs. of Gold Medal Flour cost $1.69 and 3 lbs. of Armour Crescent sliced bacon was 98 cents. The Movies playing at Pop’s Drive-In Theatre were “Stalag 17,” “Time of their Lives,” “Along the Navajo Trail,” “Jesse James” Women,” “Rob Roy,” “Pecos Bill” and “Southwest Passage.”
