LaSalle Schools Closed Wednesday

LaSalle Parish schools will be closed Wednesday, September 11, as a result of Hurricane Francine making landfall in Louisiana.

According to school officials, schools will be closed and all extracurricular activities canceled “due to the potentially dangerous conditions of the approaching storm.”

The National Weather Service has forecasted conditions could possibly impact the morning and afternoon commutes and power outages for schools and communities.

The school system anticipates school to reconvene Thursday, September 12.

CLTCC Rod Brady Campus in Jena will also be closed tomorrow along with most all Louisiana higher education facilities.

Although the hurricane right now is expected to take a more easterly path, missing LaSalle Parish, the potential for high winds and heavy rains remains.

Law enforcement officials ask the public not to travel unless an emergency requires it and to make preparations for the approaching storm.
