Tigers Fight Hard In Third Loss

The LaSalle Tigers fell 30-14 to the Merryville Panthers this past Friday night in Merryville, despite a valiant effort by the young Tiger team. The loss saw the young Tigers fall to 0-3 on the season.

These Tigers will not lose heart or back down from a tough matchup. LaSalle has worked hard all summer implementing a new team concept with new personnel to start this season.

This matchup was one that had both teams evenly matched on paper. LaSalle rebuilding, and Merryville doing the same. Merryville was able to keep the ground and pound game going and control the clock for the entire game.

Tuff Street and Jessey Stowe would provide the offense for the Tigers with runs of 85 and 42 yards respectively.

The Tiger defense would be on the field most of the night. Aiden Billingsley would lead all Tigers with 15 tackles. Matthew Thompson would add 9 tackles with 4 tackles for loss. Stephen Fowler would add 7 tackles and Tuff Street 13. Canaan Stowe would add 7 tackles and Peyton Peppers and Cutler Ganey added 5. This defense will continue to work hard and improve every game.

The Tigers will be at home this week as LaSalle High School prepares for Homecoming ‘24 activities. The Block Bears will come to town for the annual homecoming football game set to take place at 7 p.m.

The festivities will continue all weekend starting with a community- wide pep rally on Thursday night. The Homecoming Court presentation will be all 11 a.m. on Friday with the parade to follow.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the game as the court will make its entrance at 6:30 p.m. Kickoff will follow at 7 p.m. and the Homecoming court will be presented at halftime.

If you can’t make it to the game, make sure to follow the play-by-play action brought to you by Jason and Eli Peppers on Sandlot Sports Network on Facebook. Hope to see you at the games.
