The ribbon is a symbol of peace, survival, courage, honor and dedication to domestic violence awareness. It sends the message that violence has no place in our community. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the United States. Louisiana ranks fifth (5th) for its rate of female victims murdered by males.
