Tigers Win Four In A Row

The LaSalle Tigers continued their winning ways last Thursday night with a 36-28 thrilling victory over the Northwood Gators. The Tigers rolled up five touchdowns with a thundering ground game once again in their fourth straight victory.

The Tigers opened the game by recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff, which led to Wyatt King’s first touchdown of the night. The Tigers would remain in control of the first quarter by adding another touchdown later by Jessey Stowe to make the score at the end of the first quarter 16-0.

During the second quarter, the Gators would mount a comeback, partly due to Tigers’ mistakes, including a Pick-6 at the end of the first half with seconds remaining, to cut the Tigers’ lead to 22-14 at the half.

The third quarter saw the Tigers come out on mission scoring another touchdown to extend their lead to 30-14.

But the Gators weren’t through as their playmakers wouldn’t quit making the contest closer and more exciting for Tigers fans.

The defense showed up when needed in the fourth quarter. Northwood would not roll over and quit during this game. The Gators scored quickly in the third quarter and then closed the gap even more as they picked up a score in the fourth quarter. The Tigers were leading by 8 and the Gators were on the move when the defense stepped up and held tough on four consecutive plays to get a turnover on downs as time was winding down. The Tiger offense was able to get in victory formation and leave Alexandria with their fourth victory in a row with the 36-28 win.

Tuff Street led all rushers with 161 yards and two touchdowns. Jessey Stowe and Wyatt King each added to the ground attack with scores themselves. The Tigers were able to move the ball through the air as Caiden Finley grabbed three passes for 63 yards.

This win moves the Tigers to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in District 3-1A play. The Tigers will continue district play at home this Friday as the St. Mary’s Tigers come to town. This game will start the final stretch before the playoffs begin. A win against the talented St. Mary’s will certainly cement the Tigers in the history books. Along with St. Mary’s, LaSalle’s final game will see them face district foes Logansport and Montgomery. These last three opponents will battle test the Tigers for a deep run in the playoffs.

Let’s all come out to LaSalle Tiger Stadium in Olla this Friday night and pack out the stands to cheer on these guys. They have worked so hard to make this community and school proud.

Remember, if you can’t make it to the games tune in to Sandlot Sports Network and follow all the playby- play action as Jason and Eli Peppers bring it to you live. Hope to see you at the games.
