Tigers Suffer First District Loss

The LaSalle Tigers suffered their first district loss of the season last Friday night in Olla, as the St. Mary’s Tigers showed up and held LaSalle to 200 yards and zero points taking the win 30-0.

LaSalle had been dominating teams with a thundering running game the past few weeks, but St. Mary’s pulled the plug on the LaSalle offense and kept them out of the end zone all night. La-Salle would be held in check the entire game.

Tuff Street had been rushing for over a hundred yards a game but St. Mary’s would hold to just 9 yards total rushing on the night.

St. Mary’s would pile up 30 points in this game through the air, which was surprising because St Mary’s hadn’t had much of a passing game in prior games. This newfound passing game piled up the yards and the points. The Tiger defense would be on their heels all night.

Matthew Thompson would lead the Tiger defense with 5 solo tackles and 3 sacks. Stephen Fowler would follow close behind with 4 solo tackles and a forced fumble. The Tigers will spend this coming week regrouping and getting ready for Logansport.

The Tigers fell to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in District 3-1A play. Logansport will come into Olla looking to lock up a district championship.

Currently, LaSalle is sitting at #28 in power points with two district games left on their regular season schedule. The Tigers will be ready for these two showdowns. Let’s fill the stands to cheer on these guys that have worked so hard all season to make this community and school proud.

Remember that if you can’t make it to the stadium then tune in to Sandlot Sports Network as Jason and Eli Peppers bring you all the play-by-play action. Hope to see you at the games.
