Nominations Open for 2025 Champions of Service Awards

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Volunteer Louisiana are proud to announce the opening of nominations for the 2025 Champions of Service Awards. This annual recognition honors individuals, groups, and businesses that demonstrate extraordinary dedication to volunteerism and community service in Louisiana. Nominations are open and will close on January 31, 2025. “Helping your neighbor is an important part of our culture in Louisiana,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Thousands of volunteers across our state freely give their time, energy, and talents in service to others. The Champions of Service Awards allow us to shine a light on our incredible volunteer leaders and celebrate their commitment to strengthening Louisiana’s communities.” “Volunteers are the backbone of our communities, stepping up every day to address challenges with compassion, creativity, and dedication,” said Judd Jeansonne, Executive Director of Volunteer Louisiana. “We encourage everyone to nominate those who embody the spirit of volunteerism so we can celebrate their incredible impact and share their inspiring stories with others.” The Champions of Service Awards recognize outstanding individuals from seven geographic regions across Louisiana, along with an exemplary AmeriCorps member and a group of volunteers. Honorees will be celebrated at a special luncheon at Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge during National Volunteer Week on Monday, April 28, 2025. Kellie Duhon, Chair of the Volunteer Louisiana Commission and Corporate Giving Program Manager at Louisiana Blue, emphasized the importance of volunteerism stating, “Every day, we see how acts of service – big or small – can transform lives, foster resilience, and inspire hope for future generations. This is your opportunity to recognize individuals, groups, and corporate volunteers who go above and beyond to make Louisiana a better place for everyone.” For more details on submitting your nomination, visit the Volunteer Louisiana Champions of Service Award webpage.
