Cry Baby
Columns/Opinions, Editorial
January 29, 2025
Cry Baby

Cry Baby is a stray cat that showed up at my back door a couple of years ago. He was 2/3’s grown, strutted a beautiful long gray coat and had vocal cords that could rival those of the fictional screen star Tarzan. Before I could step out of the door good, he was meowing at high volume and didn’t cease until I went back inside. Out of the goodness of my heart, I began offering him daily servings of yummy cat food and other treats. It wasn’t long before he was a regular and then became a permanent fixture on the back deck. He found a special place in my heart, and we developed a loving relationship. I put up with his neediness and excessive meows and he took care of the mice that carelessly wandered into his domain and provided me with kitty cat companionship.
