Lady Tigers Fall to Logansport

The LaSalle Lady Tigers fell at home 50-47 to Logansport this past Friday night, January 24. It was their only game of the week due to the winter storm that came through Louisiana earlier in the week.

Logansport came into this matchup 14-4 overall and had run through most of the Shreveport area teams. The Lady Tigers were ready for this highly anticipated matchup.

Logansport took an early 17-point lead, but LaSalle would tie the game and match Logansport bucket for bucket until late in the game when Logansport was able to hit crucial free throws to pull out the win.

LaSalle would have big games from their senior leaders. Mattie Parham, Leanna Womack and Lana Childress would lead the charge that kept pace with Logansport. Mattie would lead all scorers with 35 points. LaSalle has always played Logansport close games and in recent years sweeping them in District 3-1A play.

The Lady Tigers were scheduled to travel to Montgomery Tuesday, January 28. Both teams have identical records and only one spot separates the two teams in power point rankings. This is not uncommon for these two teams as they have become rivals over the past few seasons playing several overtime district matchups.

On Friday night, January 31, LaSalle will travel to Lakeview as district play continues.

Another bright spot recently is the fact that Mattie Parham is the newest member of the LaSalle Lady Tigers 1000-point club. Parham has been a constant figure in the double-double in the stat column. Parham has amassed over 1,200 points in her high school career and it’s still not over. Congratulations Mattie Parham!

Everyone is encouraged to be at all games, home and away, to cheer on these girls that’s working so hard for that district championship.

Hope to see you at the games.
