Scorched Earth

I had a friend early in life who married the girl of his dreams. He worked on an oil rig and was gone quite a bit. Living away from home, working hard long hours and eating baloney sandwiches every day was normal. He sent the rest of his paycheck to his devoted wife. He finally got a few days off and returned home to relax and spend some time with his family. When he pulled up to his house, he noticed that everything seemed dark and the grass had not been mowed in a while. The electricity had been turned off and the tow truck was pulling up to get his truck. The checkbook was overdrawn and some of the furniture was gone. His truck payment and insurance had not been paid. Could it be any worse? Yes, he later found out there had been late night parties while he was gone!
