Quarterfinals, Here They Come – Lady Giants Win Against Kinder

In honor of the Lady Giants’ quarterfinal matchup Thursday, February 27 against #2 Oak Grove, The Jena Times is proud to post action photos from Monday night’s exciting second-round victory over Kinder #7.

Jena #10 won the game 46-38 to advance to the quarterfinals – the first time in 20 years.

A win against Oak Grove tonight will send the Lady Giants to the state tournament in Hammond for the 24th time in school history where the semis and finals will be held. The last time the girls’ team advanced to the semifinals was in 1994 – 31 years ago – under head coach Brenda Loe.

That 1994 team went undefeated (34-0) through the regular season, district and playoffs, until they lost in the state championship game to McCall. Players included: Crystal Todd, Stephanie Jordan, Lori Dosher, Daisy Pritchard, Rebecca Erwin, Michelle Purvis, Jessica Bradford, LaTasha Crockett, Leslie Russell, Amanda Cooper and Melissa Whatley.

The 2025 version of Lady Giants are hoping to place their names in the history books tonight by punching their ticket to the state tournament.
