Lady Tigers Ranked #1 in State

The LaSalle Lady Tigers have taken over the #1 ranking in Division IV Non-Select softball. The Lady Tigers have posted an 18-3 record overall with a 3-0 District 3-1A record included.

LaSalle’s powerhouse offense has posted a team batting average of .446 with a whopping .743 slugging percentage. The slugging percentage is in part to the 21 homers that have been hit this season along with 89 doubles and 15 triples. LaSalle has put up 257 runs this far. These gaudy numbers come from constantly working on their game.

The Lady Tigers are not only about the power offense. The defense has only committed 17 errors in 21 games while the pitching staff has posted a season ERA of 1.875. Landry Long and Rheese Martin have carried the majority of innings for these Lady Tiger pitchers.

On Tuesday, March 18, Allie Murphrey drove in four runs on one hit to lead LaSalle past St Mary’s 7-2. Murphey’s hit was a grand slam to center field in the fourth inning. It was the bottom of the fourth when the Lady Tigers flipped the game on its head when LaSalle scored seven runs on eight hits to take a 7-1 lead. Kinley Morris led the Lady Tigers with two hits in four at-bats. The Lady Tigers turned two double plays in this contest.

Rheese Martin earned the win for LaSalle. The righty surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out 2 and walking none. Landry Long appeared in relief for LaSalle.

On Friday, March 21, Allie Murphrey collected four hits in four at-bats, as LaSalle defeated Franklin Parish 12-7 on Friday. Murphrey doubled in the second inning, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.

The Lady Tigers got on the board in the first inning after Harlee Nowlin scored after tagging up. LaSalle extended their early lead in the top of the third after Lana Childress grounded out and Klaire Fenoli singled to left field, each scoring a run.

Landry Long earned the win for LaSalle as the starter allowed 9 hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. Rheese Martin appeared in relief for LaSalle.

These girls are doing all the right things to earn a trip back to Sulphur in the postseason. Make sure to catch the remaining regular season games to cheer on these ladies that are working so hard to make the community so proud. Hope to see you at the games.
