Lady Tigers: Undefeated District Champions

The LaSalle Lady Tigers are your 2025 undefeated District 3-1A champions.

These ladies have been on a mission since an early exit from the playoffs last season surprised everyone. LaSalle has made Sulphur, Louisiana, and the state tournament a home away from home since 2017. Not just the tournament, but the championship game has found the Lady Tigers a permanent resident since 2017, until an early exit in the last two seasons have these girls wanting to prove that they do belong among the elite high school softball teams in the state. They have certainly made a statement so far this season.

On Monday, March 31, despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, LaSalle still held off Caldwell 8-7 for a regular season victory.

Caldwell closed the gap by scoring on a double, a homerun, a solo homerun, a groundout and a single. The Lady Tigers didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at seven in the top of the sixth inning when Rheese Martin hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

LaSalle jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mattie Parham was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Leanna Womack singled scoring two runs, an error scored one run and Addie Taylor singled, scoring a run. The Lady Tigers added another run in the third on a Caldwell error. Callie Grace Baum hit a solo homerun to right field in the bottom of the third inning for Caldwell.

Caldwell captured the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the fourth inning after Cadee Scott grounded out, Parker Nugent doubled to center field and Daisy Temple singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Caldwell committed an error, which helped LaSalle tie the game at seven in the top of the fifth.

Landry Long earned the win for LaSalle. The reliever surrendered two hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Kayleigh Beckley took the loss for Caldwell. The righty went three innings, surrendering two runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking two. Rheese Martin stepped in the circle first for the Lady Tigers. The starter surrendered nine hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.

Leanna Womack, the number 7 hitter, led the way for LaSalle with 2 RBI’s. Womack went 1 for 3 on the day. Kinley Morris, Allie Murphrey, Leanna Womack, Klaire Fenoli, Addie Taylor and Leah Steen each collected one hit for LaSalle. The Lady Tigers had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks in this game. LaSalle didn’t make a single error. Allie Murphrey had the most chances in the field with 13.

On Tuesday, April 1, LaSalle took very little time defeating Montgomery on the road 9-2.

LaSalle got on the board in the first inning after Kinley Morris doubled, scoring one run. Zoey Fitts homered for Montgomery to tie the game at 1 in the bottom of the first inning. A solo home run by LaSalle’s Mattie Parham in the top of the second gave the Lady Tigers the lead back. Zoey Fitts homered again in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2.

LaSalle added four more runs in the top of the sixth on one hit when Landry Long hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run. Rheese Martin homered to center field, scoring 3 runs.

LandryLong earned the win for LaSalle. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Rheese Martin stepped in the circle first for LaSalle. The starter surrendered six hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one. LaSalle piled up 11 hits in this game. Kinley Morris and Leanna Womack each collected three hits for the Lady Tigers. Mattie Parham and Rheese Martin each drove in three runs for LaSalle. Allie Murphrey collected two hits for the Lady Tigers in three at bats. LaSalle did not commit a single error in this game and Allie Murphrey had the most chances with 10.

Just putting this out there about these Lady Tigers: hold on to your hats because this softball team is all business about making it back to Sulphur, Louisiana. Make sure to congratulate these ladies when you see them about making this community so proud. Hope to see you at the games.
