Tigers Battle Hard in Losses

LaSalle Tigers fell to Montgomery 4-3 on April 1 at Montgomery but not without giving the Montgomery Tigers all they could handle.

The game was tied three all in the bottom of the seventh inning when Mason Jordan singled, scoring the winning run. LaSalle got on the board first when Kale Murphrey hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring a run. Rogan Edwards homered to right field for Montgomery that would tie the game at 1. LaSalle would take the lead in the top of the fifth. Mason Lee singled, scoring two runs, giving LaSalle a 3-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Montgomery would tie the game after a batter was put on base by being hit by the pitch. In the bottom of the seventh inning Montgomery would get a walk-off single to end the game. LaSalle stayed in this game the entire time and battled hard.

LaSalle would be led by Mason Lee with two RBI’s. Lee would go 1 for 2 on the day. Canaan Stowe, Wyatt King, Tuff Street and Lee would each collect a hit for the Tigers. The Tiger defense would turn one double play in this game.

On Thursday, April 3, Montgomery would travel to Olla for the second matchup of the district games and leave with a 5-1 victory.

Montgomery would take the lead scoring a run on an error in the second inning. Brady Tatum would get the start for LaSalle. The lefty would allow six hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out nine and walking one. Mason Jordan opened the game for Montgomery on the mound.

Brady Tatum and Jessey Stowe each collected two hits for LaSalle. Canaan Stowe led the team with one RBI. The Tigers had great patience at the plate by drawing 7 walks for this game. Canaan Stowe and Wyatt King each had two walks for this game.

Although the Tigers did not come out on top in this game they competed until the final out. These guys have worked their guts out competing this season.

LaSalle currently sits in the #20 spot in the power rankings for Division IV Non-Select baseball. The Tigers will continue regular season play with a home game on Thursday against Georgetown. This will be the game where Seniors are honored.

Make plans to attend this game at 5 p.m. to cheer on these guys as they are making moves to take with them into the postseason. Hope to see you at the games.
