JHS Tennis Competes at Regionals

Several members of the Jena High School Tennis Team were in Shreveport Monday and Tuesday of this week, competing in the Regional Tennis Tournament for a chance to make the state tournament.

Although results from the regional tournament were not available by press time Monday, the Jena team has several members who have posted impressive records heading into the meet in Shreveport.

During the course of the tennis season, the Jena Tennis Team has played matches against Oak Grove, Caldwell, Grace Christian, Delta Charter, Vidalia and Franklin Parish. Win totals allowed singles and doubles players to accumulate records for them to qualify for the regional tournament this week.

Playing at regionals from Jena were: Boys Singles: Beau Spence and Trace Kirkham. Boys Doubles: Blayne Shivers and Cameron Koch; Kameron Gardner and Samuel Bond; and Cobin Willis and Chase Girlinghouse.

Girls Singles: Karlie Kimball and Emmy Calk. Girls Doubles: Noel Kimbrough and Braylie Poole; Keira Chevallier and Natylie Chapman; and Bella Andrews and Caitlin McCormick.

During the course of the tennis season, the following records were posted by the members: Girls: Keira Chevallier 9-5, Natylie Chapman 9-5; Braylie Poole 10-5; Emmy Calk 3-9; Noel Kimbrough 9-6; Payton Girlinghouse 6-2; Caitlin McCormick 7-3; Karlie Kimball 6-5; Lexi Wilson 2-4; Grace Wheeler 1-3; Kennady McDaniel 2-4; Baylee Calk 2-5; Clair Ratcliff 3-3; Bella Andrews 9-5; Anna Mc-Clure 3-2; Gracie Marks 1-3; and Miley Posey 1-3.

Boys: Beau Spence 11-4; Kameron Gardner 7-8; Coben Willis 4-8; Cameron Koch 9-7; Blayne Shivers 9-6; Samuel Bond 7-8; Trace Kirkham 10 2; and Chase Girlinghouse 5-6.
