June Poole

Iris June Poole, 92, of Jena, sadly left our world on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, after a richly lived life in service and kindess.

Iris June Poole, 92, of Jena, sadly left our world on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, after a richly lived life in service and kindess.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Jena, LA, with Pastor Brandon Poole officiating.

Interment followed in the Aimwell Cemetery, Aimwell, LA, under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA.

Pallbearers were Burt Stephens, Cody Stephens, Chris Sellers, Jeremy Hutzler, Trylen Stephens and Andrew Stephens.

Honorary pallbearers were Tyran, Ryatt, Maverick, Jordan, Case, Bo, Dex, Winn and Nolan.

Known for her 37 years as an educator, Mamaw June was a beacon of light and hope in our community, touching lives through her family, her many students and dear friends with an open-door policy with a pot of coffee and hot biscuits always ready on the table.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Lamar A. Poole; son, Michael A. Poole; parents, Fred and Norene Evans; and brothers, Larry and Freddie.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sherri Stephens; brother, Dexter Evans (Donna); grandchildren, Dexter Poole (Darla), Staci Dubois, Shelly Hunt, Burt Stephens (Lacy), Tiffany Stephens, Evan Poole (Ashley), Sherri Drewett (Trey) and Stacy Huson (Jimmy); special great grandsons, Cody Stephens (Morgan) and Trylen Stephens (Ellis); a host of great and great-great grandchildren; and special friends, Sally & Noel Allen, Shirley Jefferies and Boots Phillips.
