Jena’s First Ever Fourth of July Celebration Event

Jena’s first ever Fourth of July Celebration event will be held this Friday, July 4 at the Jena Town Park, with a fun and patriotic program set for kids and adults alike.

The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a bike parade starting at the park’s vision trail bridge. Participants of all ages are encouraged to showcase their red, white and blue attire and ride or pull a decorated bike, wagon, stroller, scooter or walk in the parade waving a flag, blowing a horn or striking a drum! (All bike riders must wear helmets.)

At 10:30, the program will begin at the Dog Trot House and include the Presenting of Colors by the VFW Veterans Honor Guard of Jena, the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner, a Patrick Henry reenactment and a reading from the Declaration of Independence. At the program’s conclusion, an award for the “most patriotic” will be presented.

The program will be followed by refreshments and games, with the Jena Pitbosses on the grill and water and treats provided by the local Walmart. There will be face painting and balloon animal, as well as many games and activities for the kids! All are encouraged to bring the family and some lawn chairs for a fun celebration of our nation’s Independence Day.

For more information, contact event organizer Dr. Rachel Gaddis Floyd at (318) 374-9471.
