The Summer Reading Program continued at the LaSalle Parish libraries with LaSalle Parish’s own Ms. Debra Jo and Tommy Hailey at the Jena location and local educator Miss. Brayden Keene at the Olla location Friday, June 27.
At the Jena branch, children gathered to watch Pair-A-Docs, a dynamic duo who amazed the crowd with magic. The highlight of the show was when they made a live bunny appear right before everyone’s eyes! The children were in awe as they watched the magic unfold. The performance was captivating, and it brought big smiles to all.
Later that afternoon in Olla, the focus shifted to storytelling and creativity. Miss Brayden read a colorful and engaging book.
After the story, each child got to participate in a hands-on coloring activity that tied directly into the book’s theme. They carefully colored the pages, bringing their own vibrant touch to the story they had just heard.
Fun at the library will continue with two programs in July – Prepare with Pedro and Louisiana Snake ID. On Friday, July 11, the American Red Cross is offering a free youth disaster preparedness presentation “Prepare with Pedro,” where students will receive valuable and age-appropriate information on hurricane disaster readiness.
On Friday, July 18, Louisiana Snake ID will provide an educational and exciting show about slithering friends and foes. Students of all ages are invited to learn how to identify snakes and even hold a few – if you dare! Both Friday programs will be offered at the Jena branch at 10 a.m. and the Olla branch at 2 p.m.
As summer comes to an end, be sure to visit your local library and enjoy the many free resources available!
