The LaSalle Tigers suited up against the Class 3A Vidalia Vikings in a controlled scrimmage this past Friday night at Tiger Stadium in Olla where an excited fanbase got their first look at the 2025 Tigers.
The bleachers were packed with blue and gold as fans got to see what these guys have been working on all summer. Each team had a set number of plays to run with the first team offenses and defenses along with their second-string counterparts. LaSalle is be excited to see what their hard work will accomplish this coming season and for the first time last Friday, they got to go against guys in a different uniform, which was welcomed by both players and coaches.
The Tigers had several standout players in this scrimmage. Standing out to the coaches were Alex Richmond, Wyatt King and Jessey Stowe, each of whom had good outings.
For the freshmen that stepped on the field, Brayden Tannehill was one name mentioned by the coaches as having a great scrimmage.
Many that turned out to watch the scrimmage were able to stay excited about the upcoming season. These young Tigers are going to be fun to watch this season as the final dress rehearsal will be the jamboree Saturday, August 30, in Natchitoches at the Battle on the Bricks. This is new this season to high school football and tickets may be purchased at the school office where 100% of ticket sales will go to the Tigers.
There will also be tickets available the day of the game, however, the best and cheapest deal will be to purchase them early at the office. Buying them early is another way to support the La-Salle Tiger program.
To stay up to date with the LaSalle Tigers this season, make sure you follow The Jena Times Facebook page and subscribe to the newspaper. The Facebook and Instagram pages post the final scores each game night and a subscription to the newspaper’s website allows access to many photos from the game each week. I don’t know of any other newspaper that does this for the schools they cover.
The Tigers’ jamboree at NSU’s Turpin Stadium will see them face the Class 4A Grant Cougars at 2 p.m. With weather predicted to be beautiful and temperatures in the low 80’s, it should make for a perfect day for high school football.
The following week, the official first week of high school football begins as the Tigers will travel to Ferriday to take on the Delta Charter Storm on Thursday night, September 4. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
