The year was 1980: Jimmy Carter was President, the Pittsburgh Steelers secured their second consecutive Super Bowl Championship, Pacman was launched and women were significantly missing from management and top positions across the U.S. job spectrum and political positions. That, however, would soon change and among that change would be four Jena High School graduates and friends: LaDawn Cooper Edwards, Deborah Bailey Mayo, Lana Boyette Francis and Carolyn Richardson Francis. These future LaSalle Parish leaders would benefit from the upcoming cultural trends – each in time assuming leadership positions in the local job market. They would use their leadership skills and talents to give back to their hometown of Jena and the surrounding community.
