Lady Tiger’s Win Success Continues

The Lady Tiger’s season is going well and that success has continued over last week as they played two very talented teams in the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Cougars.

They moved up a spot from 16 to 15 and have plenty of opportunity to keep climbing. With district starting next week, it is good they have faced very good competition throughout this season and will be battle tested when they face a team in the Lakeview Gators, who has won state title not too long ago and a 4A team in Grant next week.

The Lady Tigers faced the Georgetown Lady Bulldogs earlier in the season with a resounding 41-21 victory, and the Georgetown ladies came to Olla Monday, January 19, looking for revenge. The effort, however, was snuffed out quickly as the Lady Tigers got on top early and maintained the lead throughout the game. The final score of this game was 52-21 extending their win streak to three!

On Friday, January 23, the Lady Tiger’s faced the #2 team in Class C in the Calvin Lady Cougars. This was homecoming for Calvin, and it provided the Lady Tigers a look into a post season environment that will serve them well as their run continues. With all the girls getting playing time, from seniors to freshmen, you can see Coach Long has instilled a defensive intensity into every young lady that was seen on every position. Success was found early on with the girls getting some second chance points, but the Cougars came away with this one as they pulled away in the second half.

They will play Grant at home on Tuesday, January 27 (If Frosty the Snowman leaves town), and against Lakeview in Campti on Friday, January 30. Looking ahead in the schedule, district is shaping up to have some very exciting matchups and right now LaSalle and Logansport are neck and neck in the district standings.

With a top 10 seeding being sought and a possible district championship in sight, there is every reason to come watch these girls play and give them your support. Go Lady Tigers!
