Tigers Roaring Early: Off to 9-3 start

The 2026 season has gotten off to an outstanding start for the LaSalle Tigers baseball team, as the program continues to build momentum and excitement throughout the community.

Through the early portion of the season, the Tigers boast a strong 9–3 record and have climbed to the No. 8 ranking in the state in Division IV Non-Select, showing they have the talent and determination to compete with anyone on their schedule.

LaSalle has been dominant in several of its victories so far this year. The Tigers have recorded five 10-run wins, displaying an explosive offense capable of putting games away early. At the same time, the team has proven it can thrive in pressure situations, capturing two additional victories by just one run. Those close contests have highlighted the team’s toughness and ability to execute when the stakes are highest.

The Tigers carried that momentum straight into district play with an emphatic 22–4 victory over Lakeview to open their district schedule. The offensive outburst and solid play across the board set the tone for what LaSalle hopes will be a strong run through district competition.

Head coach Josh Boyett team’s early success is a byproduct to the work put in during the offseason. Boyett and his staff focused heavily on developing players and strengthening the team’s mindset long before the first pitch of the season was thrown. The fanbase has been especially pleased with the grit and character his players have shown through the first dozen games.

While the Tigers have already made a strong statement, the road ahead will not be easy. Division IV is filled with quality programs, and LaSalle’s district is widely known for its competitiveness. Year in and year out, at least one team from the district finds itself making a deep postseason run with hopes of reaching Sulphur, the home of the state championship tournament. For LaSalle, that challenge is something the team embraces.

Adding to the excitement is the renewed atmosphere surrounding the program. The LaSalle ballpark looks fantastic this season, and fans have taken notice of the energy surrounding the team.

With strong play on the field and growing support in the stands, there is a sense that the Tigers are building something special. If the early part of the season is any indication, LaSalle baseball is not only enjoying success now but is also laying the foundation for a promising future. And if the Tigers continue to play with the same determination and confidence they have shown so far, part of the road to Sulphur could very well run through Olla, Louisiana.

The boys took the field on Tuesday against a district opponent, the Northwood Gators, at home in Olla. They finish off the week Thursday, March 12 against our neighbors over in Winnfield with a JV/Varsity game at 4/6. Next Tuesday, March 17, they will travel to Natchitoches to take on St. Mary’s.

Please come out and show these young men your support and enjoy some great baseball. Go Tigers!
