The LaSalle Tigers are starting to gain momentum as they started another win streak this past week. After a pair of convincing wins, the Tigers have vaulted into the top five of the statewide rankings and kept their district win streak going as well.
LaSalle opened the week at home in Olla with an 11–3 victory over Northwood‑Lena on March 10, showing a balanced attack at the plate and steady pitching that kept the Gators from ever finding a rhythm.
The Tigers’ offense came alive early and never let up, stringing together timely hits and capitalizing on scoring opportunities to put the game out of reach.
The Northwood‑Lena win was impressive, but the Tigers’ next outing was the statement game of the week. Our neighbors in Winnfield always have a good program year in and year out and coming out with an away win there is always a tough task.
The boys were up to the task March 12 how‑ever and played some solid defense and paired it with some timely runs and got a big 6-2 win over the other Tigers. LaSalle is now back into the Top 5, and staying there will be a challenge but it is one Coach Josh Boyett and the boys are up for.
The Tigers won’t have much time to cele‑brate. This week presents one of the toughest stretches of their season: The Tigers played St. Mary’s Tuesday (March 17) in Natchitoches. This particular matchup is special because it will be the last time they play this game as long‑ standing district rivals as new district layouts removed the two from the same district. Any fu‑ture games will now be at the coachs’ discretion after this season.
The other game coming up is against Stanley, a talented squad sitting inside the Top 10 of Class B, known for athleticism and strong pitching. That game will be at Stanley at 6:00 p.m. on Fri‑day, March 20. Both matchups will test LaSalle’s composure and depth, and they offer a chance for the Tigers to solidify themselves as a team.
If LaSalle continues to play with the same confidence and execution they showed this week, they’ll be a force throughout the spring. The Tigers have momentum, belief, and a grow‑ing reputation—now they’ll look to keep it go‑ing against some of the toughest competition on their schedule. This week a long slate of away games will start as the Tigers will be on the road until March 31st.
Please travel and show up for these young men as they continue to make the community proud and hopefully get some wins on other folk’s grass/turf. Go Tigers!
